The Dutch National Opera is set to perform Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” in a production by Simon McBurney.

The production will star Thomas Oliemans, Ying Fang, Mingjie Lei, Christof Fischesser, Rainelle Krause, and Frederik Bergman. Conductor Riccardo Minasi leads the production.

McBurney’s production is a Co-production with English National Opera (London) and Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and has also been performed at the Metropolitan Opera where it received rave reviews and OperaWire hailed it as one of the “best productions at the Met in recent years” and is a “modern retelling of this classic opera that confronts its seriousness (and problematic nature) while also enjoying its self-awareness”

“Die Zauberflöte” will be performed 10 times between Dec. 1 and 28, 2023.  at Nationale Opera & Ballet
