The Drottinningholms Slottsteater is set to present Purcell’s “The Fairy Queen” this August.

The opera will be directed by Josette Bushnell-Mingo whose aim will be to throw the audience “into a maze of second identities, power, and magical illusions.”

Francesco Corti conducts a cast starring Samuel Boden as Theseus, Luciana Mancini as Hermia, Alex Rosen as Demetrius, Zachary Wilder as Lysander, Emmanuelle de Negri as Helena, Anna Dennis as Titania, Thomas Walker as Oberon, Kayo Shekoni as Puck, and Jeremy Carpenter as Bottom / Pyramus. The showcase will also feature the participation of the Drottningholmsteatern’s choir and orchestra.

The production of “The Fairy Queen” opens on August 5 and runs through August 19 for a total of eight performances.
