Donizetti Opera Festival Announces 2023 Season

The Donizetti Opera Festival has announced the titles for the 2023 season.

The festival noted that it will present its annual “LUOpeRave” which will use Donizetti’s music in electronic form.

The festival will present “Il diluvio universal” with Music Director Riccardo Frizza conducting the rarely performed work. The cast will include Nahuel Di Pierro, Nicolò Donini, Davide Zaccherini, Eduardo Martínez, Sabrina Gárdez, Enea Scala, Giuliana Gianfaldoni, and Maria Elena Pepi. The opera will be directed by MASBEDO.

Performance Dates: Nov. 17-Dec. 3, 2023

“Alfredo il Grande,” a title that will be part of the festival’s “Donizetti200” initiative, will be conducted by Corrado Rovaris and directed by Stefano Simone Pintor. Antonino Siragusa, Vanessa Goikoetxea, Lodovico Filippo Ravizza, Adolfo Corrado, Valeria Girardello, Floriana Cicìo, and Antonio Gares star.

Performance Dates: Nov. 19 & 24, 2023

The company will also showcase “Lucie de Lammermoor,” the French version of “Lucia di Lammermoor” with Pierre Dumoussaud directing and Jacopo Spirei conducting. Caterina Sala sings the title role alongside Alex Duhamel, Patrick Kabongo, and Roberto Lorenzi.

Performance Dates: Nov. 18 & Dec. 1, 2023

Finally, Francesco Micheli will direct “Il piccolo compositore di musical” by Giovanni Simone Mayr. It will star students of the Bottega Donizetti.
