Diane Zola, who served as the Met’s Assistant General Manager, Artistic and Executive Director of the Lindemann Young Artists Program, has resigned from the Metropolitan Opera.

In a letter obtained by Parterre, Gelb wrote to company members noting that Zola was resigning in order to pursue “other artistic opportunities.”

He added that Zola made various contributions to the Met particularly in regards to young artists.

As a result, Zola will be replaced by Michael Heaston, the former Executive Director of the Lindemann Young Artist Program and current Artistic Administrator. His new position as Assistant General Manager, Artistic will be effective immediately. He will oversee the Artistic Department and will continue in charge of Casting and artistic planning.

Meanwhile, Melissa Wegner will become the Executive Director of the Lindemann Young Artists Program while continuing to oversee the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
