Diana Damrau, Javier Camarena & Ekaterina Semenchuk Lead Accademia di Santa Cecilia’s 2019-20 Season

The Orchestra and Chorus of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia has announced its 2019-20 season featuring some of the world’s most renowned soloists. For this article we will only focus on the concert featuring vocal performances.

The season opens with Antonio Pappano conducting Javier Camarena in Berlioz’s Requiem “Grande Messe des morts.”

Performance Dates: Oct. 10-12, 2019

Mikko Franck conducts Verdi’s Messa da Requiem with soprano Eleonora Buratto, mezzosoprano Ekaterina Semenchuk, tenor René Barbera, and bass Dmitry Beloselskiy.

Performance Dates: Nov.  28-Dec. 2, 2019

Haydn’s “The Creation” gets three performances with Manfred Honeck conducting Robin Johannsen, Maximilian Schmitt, and Tareq Nazmi.

Performance Dates: Jan. 9-11, 2020

Daniele Gatti conducts Ekaterina Semenchuk in a concert that is set to include Stravinsky’s “Petrushka” and Prokofiev’s “Alexander Nevsky.”

Performance Dates: Feb. 20-22, 2020

Myung-Whun Chung conducts Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 with  Sasha Cooke.

Performance Dates: March 12-14, 2020

Federica Lombardi, Teresa Iervolino, Javier Camarena, Lawrence Brownlee, and Carlo Lepore perform selections from Rossini’s  “Semiramide,” Ermione,” “Otello” and the entire Messa di Gloria. Antonio Pappano conducts.

Performance Dates: April 9-11, 2020

Tugan Sokhiev conducts Rachmaninoff Spring, Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 5 with soloist Garry Magee.

Performance Dates: May 7-9, 2020

The season concludes with a concert entitled Donizetti “The Tudor Cycle.” The concert will include the final scenes from “Anna Bolena,” “Maria Stuarda,” and “Roberto
Devereux” and will feature Diana Damrau singing all three scenes. Antonio Pappano conducts.

Performance Dates: June  11-16, 2020
