Renée Fleming Featured on Tiny Desk Alongside Béla Fleck

By Francisco Salazar

Soprano Renée Fleming is being featured on Tiny Desk alongside banjo player Béla Fleck.

The soprano is currently on tour with Fleck across the United States performing American bluegrass and folk music, from Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles to Carnegie Hall in New York.

The new Tiny Desk episode explores songs from Fleming and Fleck’s new album “The Fiddle and the Drum” including “In the Pines,” “He’s Gone Away / Storms Are On the Ocean,” and “Blackest Crow.”

Fleming is no stranger to crossover as she has performed at the Super Bowl, recording a rock album, singing Broadway in “Carousel” and jazz in such films as “The Shape of Water.”

Over the years Tiny Desk has seen such opera singers as Anthony Roth Costanzo and J’nai Bridges.
