Deutsche Oper Berlin Cancels ‘Das Wunder der Heliane’ Performance

By Francisco Salazar

The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced the cancelation of the March 2 performance of “Das Wunder der Heliane.”

The company said, “dear visitors, due to the short-term illness of the tenor part (Der Fremde) in Korngold’s work, today’s performance (March 2, 2023) has to be canceled to our great regret. Since the work is performed so rarely, it is not easy to find a replacement. We assume that Mihails Culpajevs will be healthy again for further performances (March 5th, 8th, 11th).

The company added that all ticket owners affected will be contacted directly; the organization also noted that the March 5, 8, and 11 performances will continue as scheduled.

The current production is starring Sara Jakubiak in the lead role alongside Jordan Shanahan, Mihails Culpajevs, Maiju Vaahtoluoto, and Derek Welton. Marc Albrecht conducts the Christof Loy production.
