The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced several cast changes for its 2023-24 season.

For its production of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia,” Kieran Carrel will take over the role of Almaviva in place of Matthew Newlin on Sept. 6, 9, and 29,2023.

Meanwhile, on Dec. 31, Kangyoon Shine Lee will take over the role of Almaviva in place of Matthew Newlin.

For the “Cavalleria Rusticana / Pagliacci,” on Sept. 7, 14, 17, and 22, Ildikó Komlósi will take over the role of Santuzza in place of Anja Harteros.

Meanwhile, Ivan Inverardi will sing the role of Alfio and Tonio replacing Amartuvshin Enkhbat.

For its production of “Il viaggio a Reims,” Dean Murphy will sing the role of Don Alvaro in place of Kyle Miller on Sept. 28 and Oct. 1, 2023.

For “Antikrist” on Jan. 13 and 26, 2024, Kieran Carrel will take over the part of Lie in place of Thomas Blondelle while Philipp Jekal will replace Joel Allison in the role of Hate.

On Oct. 16, 2023, Matthew Newlin will sing the role of Don José in Bizet’s “Carmen” in place of David Butt Philip while Jorge Puerta will take over the role of Calaf in Puccini’s “Turandot” in place of Fabio Sartori on Jan. 4, and 7, 2024.

Patrick Guetti will take over the role of Daland in place of Tobias Kehrer in Der fliegende Holländer on Nov. 12 and 24, 2023 while Stephan Zilias will conduct “Fidelio” on April 12, 14, and 20, 2024 replacing Sir Donald Runnicles.

Strauss’ “Intermezzo” will see two changes with Dominic Limburg taking over as music director in place of Sir Donald Runnicles on June 14, 2024, while Joel Allison takes over the role of Kommerzienrat in place of Padraic Rowan on April 25, 28, June 1, 5, 7, and 14, 2024.

In Puccini’s “Il Trittico” Maria Motolygina will take over the role of Suor Angelica in place of Mané Galoyan and Lilit Davtyan will take over the role of Lauretta in place of Elisa Verzier on Dec. 9 and 12, 2023.

On Feb. 18 and 24, 2024, Annika Schlicht will take over the role of Laura in place of Judit Kutasi in Ponchielli’s “La Gioconda” while Dean Murphy will take over the role of Prince Yeletsky in Tchaikovsy’s “Pique Dame” replacing Philip Yekal on March 23 and 27, 2024.

Finally, Georgia Jarman will take over the role of Agnès in place of Vera-Lotte Boeckern in Written on Skin on Jan. 27 January, Feb. 1, 5, 9, and 15, 2024.
