The Deutsche Oper Berlin has appointed Marco Medved as its new Chorus Master from the 26-27 season.

The company said, “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Milanese Marco Medved as the new Chorus Master of the Deutsche Oper Berlin from August 2026.”

In a statement Medved added, “It is a great honor to be able to lead this multiple award-winning chorus with its broad and excellently prepared repertoire from the coming season onward, bringing my ideas and experience to the table. Of course, I am also looking forward to living in the cultural metropolis of Berlin with its outstanding musical offerings. It is my professional ambition to contribute to its musical life.”

Medved studied piano, composition, choral and orchestral conducting at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory and worked with the Tyrolean Festival Erl, the National Centre for Performing Arts in Beijing, the South Tyrol Festival in Dobbiaco, the opera houses in Cologne and Bonn, and most recently at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari.

The current chorus director, Jeremy Bines, will be moving to the Staatsoper Stuttgart next summer.

The Deutsche Oper Berlin is set to announced its new season on April 14, 2026.
