
Deustche Oper Berlin Announces Cast Change for ‘Pique Dame’

The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced a cast change for its production of “Pique Dame.”
The company said that Dean Murphy will take over the role of Prince Yeletzky from Thomas Lehman on June 21, 26, and 29, 2025.
Murphy is an American baritone who is currently a member of the ensemble at Deutsche Oper Berlin. In the 2024-2025 season, Murphy will debut at The Royal Danish Opera as Figaro in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” and Teatro La Fenice as Der Junge Herr in Weill’s “Der Protagonist.” At the Deutsche Oper Berlin will make three important role debuts as Enrico in “Lucia di Lammermoor,” Marcello in “La Bohème,” and Albert in “Werther,” and will return to Figaro in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia.”
The baritone will join a cast that includes Brian Jagde, Sara Jakubiak, Jennifer Larmore, Lucio Gallo, and Martina Baroni. Juraj Valčuha conducts the production by Sam Brown.
