The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced cast changes for its October performances of Beethoven’s “Fidelio.”

The company said that for the Oct. 20, 26, and 30, 2024 performances, Artur Garbas will take over the role of Don Fernando replacing Joel Allison.

Meanwhile, Joel Allison will take over the role of Don Pizarro replacing the originally announced Markus Brück.

Garbas has performed at such theaters as Narodni Divadlo (National Theater) in Prague and Oper Leipzig while Allison has performed with the Canadian Opera Company and Salzburg Festival.

Both will join a cast that includes Oreste Cosimo, Jane Archibald, Tobias Kehrer, Lilit Davtyan, and Thomas Cilluffo. Stephan Zilias will conduct the revival of David Hermann’s production.
