Philip Venables and Ted Huffman’s “Denis & Katya” is set to have it European premiere on Feb. 27, 2020 and will tour all throughout the United Kingdom until March 27, 2020.

The series of performances kick off in Newport Wales where the work will have its UK Premiere, followed by performances in Mold on March 2, Aberystwyth on March 3, and Cardiff on March 27. A London debut will take place at the Southbank Centre on March 13 and 14, 2020.

The showcase will feature baritone Johnny Herford and mezzo-soprano Emily Edmonds alongside the London Sinfonietta.

The opera, which had its world premiere at Opera Philadelphia at O19, is based off the true-life story of 15-year-old runaways who become social media sensations when they live stream the armed stand-off with Russian Special Forces that ultimately led to their demises. The opera was awarded the 2019 Fedora-Generali Prize for Opera, among other accolades.
