
Dean Murphy Lead San Diego Opera’s ‘The Barber of Seville’
By Francisco SalazarThe San Diego Opera is set to perform Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” at the San Diego Civic Theatre.
The production, which is set to be performed on Feb. 13, 14 & 15, 2026 will star Dean Murphy as Figaro in his house debut, Stephanie Doche as Rosina, Minghao Liu as Count Almaviva, Patrick Carfizzi as Doctor Bartolo, Craig Colclough as Don Basilio, Tasha Hokuao Koontz as Berta, and Joseph Calzada as Fiorello.
Yves Abel will conduct the San Diego Symphony Orchestrata and Chuck Hudson will direct.
Audiences will get a preview of the upcoming production on Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. at “Opera Uncorked,” part of a series of events that explores opera’s history, offers musical insights, and gives a behind-the-scenes glance at the production. “Opera Uncorked” is led by San Diego Opera’s Resident Conductor Bruce Stasyna.
