Dayton Opera Announces Cast for ‘Das Rheingold’

Dayton Performing Arts Alliance has announced the cast for Dayton Opera’s production of “Das Rheingold.”

The opera, which will be performed between April 14 and 16, in a brand-new production will feature baritone Lester Lynch as Wotan, the ruler of the gods.

He will be joined by tenor Christian Sanders, Aubrey Allicock, and Catherine Martin. The cast will be rounded out by Lauren Decker (Erda), Ben Brady (Fafner), Teresa Perotta (Freia),  Artega Wright (Donner), Carl Rosenthal (Froh), Kayla Oderah (Woglinde), Madison Montambault (Welgunde), and Allison Deady (Flosshilde).

In a statement Kathleen Clawson, Artistic Director of the Dayton Opera and Dr. Ron Anderson and Robb Sloan-Anderson Chair said, “We’ve assembled an incredible cast for this production. Dayton Opera favorite, Lester Lynch will be Wotan, the ruler of the gods. And we are thrilled to have him head our cast of Das Rheingold. Returning to Dayton Opera as Loge, the god of fire, is tenor Christian Sanders who appeared as Wilbur Wright in Dayton Opera’s Finding Wright. Aubrey Allicock makes his Dayton Opera debut as the power-hungry dwarf Alberich. Catherine Martin sings the role of Fricka, the wife of Wotan, returning after appearing with Dayton Opera in Salome and Dead Man Walking.”

“Das Rheingold” will be directed by Dayton Opera Artistic Director Kathleen Clawson and Neal Gittleman will conduct the opera.
