Daniele Gatti Responds To Firing

By Francisco Salazar

Daniele Gatti’s lawyers have sent out a statement denying all allegations of sexual harassment.

In the statement, Gatti denied all allegations and it said, “The Maestro has instructed his lawyers to protect his reputation and to take any action if this defamatory campaign against him should continue.”

The statement comes days after the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra fired him from his position as Music Director.

Gatti is one of the leading conductors around the world and is the latest in a line of maestros accused of alleged sexual assault. Since the #MeToo movement began last fall, James Levine and Charles Dutoit were also fired from their positions.

Gatti is still on the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma’s roster to conduct the opening night production of Verdi’s “Rigoletto” and he is still scheduled to conduct Verdi’s “Otello” at the Baden Baden Festival with Sonya Yoncheva and Stuart Skelton.
