By Nicole Kuchta

Young Concert Artists has announced that Daniel Kellogg will become the organization’s new President, effective July 1, 2019. He will follow in the footsteps of Founder and current Director Susan Wadsworth, who held the position for 58 years. She will stay on as Creative Consultant through the 2020-21 season in order to help prepare for the YCA’s 60th Anniversary.

According to the press release, Kellogg graduated from Curtis Institute of Music, and holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from Yale School of Music. In 2002 he was chosen as a Young Concert Artists Composer-in-Residence. He remained on the YCA roster for ten formative years. His works have been premiered at leading venues including the Philadelphia Orchestra, National Symphony, and Orchestra de Chambre de Paris, among others.

Wadsworth says of the new President-designate: “I am beyond pleased that my successor is a former YCA artist, and therefore fully understands the role that YCA plays in young musicians’ lives. Daniel Kellogg’s enthusiasm and energy will enable the organization to continue to thrive and meet the challenges of the 21st Century, while maintaining the high musical standards for which the organization is known.”

Kellogg has expressed his excitement to take on the new role, commenting that he holds “deep gratitude for an organization that offered immense help and guidance during my formative years . . . It will be a joy to work with this outstanding organization to begin the next chapter.”
