Craig Colclough will take on the role of Macbeth in Verdi’s drama at the Metropolitan Opera on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019, replacing Željko Lučić, who was originally scheduled to take on the performance.

This performance was originally set to be performed by Plácido Domingo, but when he withdrew from the production on Tuesday, Sept 24, 2019, Lučić was scheduled to step for the remaining performance. The Serbian baritone sang the role on opening night.

Colclough is a bass-baritone who will be making his Metropolitan Opera debut. He is set to take on the role of Macbeth in November at the Opera Vlaanderen and is also scheduled to take on the title role of Figaro in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the LA Opera later this season.

Colcough will sing alongside Anna Netrebko, Ildar Abdrazakov, and Matthew Polenzani.
