Constantinople Kicks Off 2020-21 Season with ‘Le Temps des Fôrets’

By David Salazar

Constantinople will open its 2020-21 season with a digital broadcast of “Le Temps des Fôrets” on Nov. 2, 2020.

The work pays tribute to the seniors living in Montreal’s long-term care facilities and was initiated by the Societé pour les arts en milieu de santé. The work was composed by Kiya Tabassian and written by Hélène Dorion.

“’Le Temps des forêts’ has been, for me, a unique and singular experience of creation. Of course, it is as if my voice is being heard through my text, but it is especially about the stories of our elders, a voice given to all of those who accompanied me in the creative process of this work,” said Dorion in a press release.

The performance will feature soprano Suzie Leblanc alongside cellist Elinor Frey, percussionist Patrick Graham, baroque violinist Tanya Laperrière, and bandoneonist Amijai Shalev. Didem Basar will also appear as kanun with Tabassian providing musical direction.
