Raquel Acevedo Klein has announced a series of concerts that she will be presenting in New York.

First up will be her multichannel electroacoustic vocal motet, “Polyphonic Interlace,” presented by The Shed in Sonic Sphere on July 19th. The work will also get a performance at the American Composers Orchestra Gala on Oct. 25, 2023 at Fogo de Chão on 53rd street. Throughout the performance Acevedo Klein will sing, improvise, and process her voice with electronics. Additionally, for the Oct. 25 performance, “audience members are invited to participate in the piece by playing pre-recorded tracks of Acevedo Klein’s voice from their phones at the same time, following a 3-2-1 countdown.”

Additionally, Acevedo Klein will also be performing in “Floresta: Soundbath” at Brooklyn Botanic Garden on Monday, July 24th. For this performance, Acevedo Klein will appear alongside Angélica Negrón and Darian Donovan Thomas.

“I am really excited to be working on projects that integrate my role as a composer and vocalist across genres, and invite me to share deeply personal stories. For my future Opera Philadelphia film commission, I play my mother Alba, at the cusp of motherhood,” Acevedo Klein said in an official press statement. “She is eager to establish a family unit after having been born out of wedlock. When her parents suddenly decide to retreat back to Puerto Rico, she has to decide whether to raise me as a single mom in NYC or to follow her parents back to their home island. Alongside my Opera Philadelphia commission, I am co-composing the score to a theatrical film entitled ‘Adrian’s Castle’ with Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry. I will be recording vocals for the lead actress and incorporating my voice into the underscoring throughout the entire film.”
