Concorso Internazionale Ottavio Garaventa Announces 5th Edition
By Francisco SalazarThe 5° Concorso Internazionale Ottavio Garaventa has announced that it will be held between Oct. 18 and 20.
The competition, which is being presented by L’Anima dell’Opera, is dedicated to the legendary tenor Ottavio Garaventa and is open to singers of all nationalities and ages. In addition to many prizes, several artists will be invited to audition for the Teatri di Varna and will also get a chance to do a Masterclass with Fabio Armiliato and Marco Camastra.
Singers will also get a chance to be selected for upcoming productions of “La Bohéme,” “Aida,” “Rigoletto,” “Rita” and “Il Trovatore.”
Additionally, some of the singers will be selected by Armiliato to participate in the “Recital Cantango,” which is set to be held in February 2025.
Born in Genoa in 1934, Garaventra won the International Competition for Verdi Voices in Busseto in 1965. From there he would enjoy a major career performing at such venues as the Teatro di San Carlo, Vienna State Opera, La Scala, Arena di Verona, and Kennedy Center in Washington. He was also teh artistic director of the Savignone International Music Festival.
