Composer Felix Jarrar will showcase “The Music of Burton Hatheway” to kick off his 2019 concert schedule.

The composer of the jazz opera “Tabula Rasa” and the forthcoming cantata “The Unsleeping Ones (his first),” will perform at the Jesse Lee United Methodist Church on Jan. 6, 2019 in a concert sponsored by Fairfield County’s The Wednesday Afternoon Music Club.

The music of American composer Burton Hatheway will be performed by Jarrar, who will also work alongside soprano Rebecca Richardson and mezzo Allison Gish. Among the offerings will be world premieres of many of Hathway’s art songs as well as arias from Jarrar’s own upcoming comic opera “Mother Goose.”

Both Gish and Richardson worked with Jarrar on the world premiere production of “Tabula Rasa” and both are slated to perform in “Mother Goose;” Gist will originate the role of Mother Goose / Leonora Goosling while Richardson will play Sleeping Beauty / Princess Talia.
