The Cleveland Orchestra announced that it raised $1.2 million at its annual gala on Sept. 30, 2023.

The event, which featured performances by Richard Strauss and Johann Straus Jr., hosted over 250 guests.

“We are honored to spend the evening celebrating The Cleveland Orchestra and Music Director Franz Welser-Möst, and the work they do annually in our neighborhoods,” said Helen Rankin Butler and Michelle Shan Jeschelnig, 2023 Gala Chairs, in an official press statement issued by the company. “Thanks to the generosity of Northeast Ohio, The Cleveland Orchestra continues to bring the community together and enrich people’s lives through music.”

The ensemble recently kicked off its 2023-24 season, which continues with performances of Maria Staud’s “Whereas the Reality” and Mahler’s Second Symphony this month.
