Claudia Boyle, Konu Kim, Giorgi Manoshvili, Na’ama Goldman, Jade Phoenix Headline Wexford Festival Opera’s 2023 Season

The Wexford Festival Opera has announced its 2023 season which will include 70 events across 13 days.

Entitled “Women and War,” the season will kick off with three mainstage opera productions. First up is Donizetti’s “Zoraida di Granato” starring Claudia Boyle and  Konu Kim. Bruno Ravella directs with Diego Ceretta conducting.

The production will be presented in a co-production with the Donizetti Festival, which will present the work in 2024 on its 200th anniversary.

Performance Dates: Oct. 24 – Nov. 3, 2023

Camille Erlanger’s “L’Aube Rouge” will follow with a cast starring Giorgi Manoshvili. Ella Marchment directs and Guillaume Tourniaire conducts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 25 – Nov. 4, 2023

The final opera on the schedule is Marco Tutino’s 2015 work “La Ciociara.” The work, which premiered at the San Francisco Opera, will star Na’ama Goldman and Jade Phoenix. Rosetta Cucchi directs while Francesco Cilluffo conducts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 26– Nov. 5, 2023

The Wexford Factory artists will headline “L’Italiana in Algeri.”

Performance Dates: Oct. 28 – Nov. 2, 2023

There will also be two pocket operas featuring young directors and set designs. First up will be “La Fille du Régiment.”

Performance Dates: Oct. 25 – Nov. 4, 2023

The other pocket opera will be “Suor Angelica.”

Performance Dates: Oct. 26 – Nov. 3, 2023

There will also be a gala concert.

There will also be a Choral Concert featuring the New Dublin Voices.

Performance Dates: Oct. 29, 2023

There will be community opera as well as the usual 10 lunchtime recitals. There will also be lectures and pop-up events. The company also noted that Conor Mitchell would return as Artist-in-Residence for the second straight year.
