
Claire Griffin to Headline University of North Carolina School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra’s Debut at Washington National Cathedral
By David SalazarThe University of North Carolina School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra will make its Washington National Cathedral debut on April 14, 2026 at 7:30 p.m.
The performance will feature Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, headlined by A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute soprano Claire Griffin. A North Carolina native from Brevard in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Griffin completed her Master of Music at UNCSA in 2025 and has appeared as Adina in “L’elisir d’amore” with the Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center and as Barbarina in “Le nozze di Figaro” with Piedmont Opera.
The program also includes the U.S. premiere of Jandali’s Symphony No. 5 (2018), a four-movement, 30-minute work by the Syrian-American composer and UNCSA alumnus.
The concert is free with registration.
