
Cincinnati Opera & CCM to Present Preview of New Opera-Ballet ‘O’Keeffe: Kiss the Sky’
By David SalazarCincinnati Opera and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music will present a public preview of “O’Keeffe: Kiss the Sky.”
The new opera-ballet, commissioned by Washington National Opera, will take the stage on March 31 at 7:30 p.m. at Cincinnati Ballet and traces the life of artist Georgia O’Keeffe.
The score is by GRAMMY Award-winning composer Christopher Tin, with a libretto by Kelley Rourke, stage direction by Francesca Zambello, and choreography by Jessica Lang. Internationally renowned soprano Christine Goerke leads the cast as Mabel Dodge Luhan, with mezzo-soprano Natalie Corrigan as Georgia O’Keeffe and tenor Tristan Tournaud as Alfred Stieglitz. Dancers Sierra Armstrong, SunMi Park, and Tristan Brosnan from American Ballet Theatre also appear, alongside student performers from CCM.
The preview is presented through Opera Fusion: New Works, Cincinnati Opera and CCM’s ongoing creative partnership supporting works-in-progress.
The world premiere of O’Keeffe: Kiss the Sky at Washington National Opera will be announced at a later date.
