The Komische Oper has announced its 2024-25 season. Here is a look at the operatic performances.

Premieres 

George Petrou conducts Händel’s “Messiah” with Damiano Michieletto directing. The soloists will include Penny Sofroniadou, Julia Grüter, Rachael Wilson, Katharina Bradić, Julien Behr, Rupert Charlesworth, Philipp Meierhöfer, and Tijl Faveyts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 21-Oct. 6, 2024

Franz Wittenbrink’s kinderoper “Die kleine Hexe” will be conducted by Anne Hinrichsen and directed by Martina Gredler. The cast will include Maria-Danaé Bansen, Paulina Plucinski, Michael Heller, Mirka Wagner, and Alma Sadé.

Christopher Purves leads “Sweeney Todd” with a cast that includes Dagmar Manzel, Rosie Aldridge, Hubert Zapiór, Alma Sadé, and Tom Schimon. James Gaffigan conducts and Barrie Kosky directs.

Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” will star Hubert Zapiór, Nadja Mchantaf, Penny Sofroniadou, Günter Papendell, and Susan Zarrabi. James Gaffigan conducts.

Alevtina Joffe conducts Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” with a cast that includes Penny Sofroniadou, Nadja Mchantaf, Agustín Gómez, Diana Schnürpel, Alina Wunderlin, Tijl Faveyts, Tom Erik Lie, Hubert Zapiór, and Julia Schaffenrath.

Performance Dates: Dec. 6, 2024-March 14, 2025

Agustín Gómez, Miriam Kutrowatz, Tom Erik Lie, Karolina Gumos, Nadja Mchantaf, Johannes Dunz, Virginie Verrez, and Christoph Späth lead Offenbach’s “Robinson Crusoé.” Adrien Perruchon conducts.

Ruzan Mantashyan leads Puccini’s “La Bohème” with a cast that also includes Penny Sofroniadou, Oleksiy Palchykov, Hubert Zapiór, Noam Heinz, Tijl Faveyts, and Christoph Späth. Jordan de Souza conducts.

Yi-Chen Lin and James Gaffigan conduct Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel” with Dagmar Manzel directing. The cast includes Günter Papendell, Joachim Goltz, Ulrike Helzel, Mirka Wagner, Susan Zarrabi, Elisabeth Wrede, Alma Sadé, Penny Sofroniadou, Daniel Kirch, and Ivan Turšić.

Oscar Straus’ “Die Perlen der Cleopatra” will star Dagmar Manzel, Stefan Sevenich, Dominik Köninger, Alma Sadé, Johannes Dunz, and Peter Renz. Adam Benzwi conducts the production by Barrie Kosky.

Günter Papendell, Adela Zaharia, Agustín Gómez, Tijl Faveyts, Penny Sofroniadou, Tommaso Barea, Philipp Meierhöfer, and Julia Schaffenrath star in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.” James Gaffigan conducts the production by Kirill Serebrennikov.

Kurt Weill’s Kinderoper “Tom Sawyer” will star Tom Schimon, Michael Heller, Noam Heinz, Julia Schaffenrath, Ulrike Helzel, Christoph Späth, Carsten Sabrowski, Alexandra Lachmann, and Kai-Uwe Fahnert. Kai Tietje conducts.
