Christine Goerke, Karen Slack, Lawrence Brownlee, Jamie Barton Among Opera Stars Calling On Fans to Vote for 2020 Presidential Election

By Francisco Salazar

With election day in full swing, opera singers have also added their voices advocating for Americans to vote.

Many have been vocal about their support for the Democratic candidates, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, including Christine Goerke, Jamie Barton, Lawrence Brownlee, Leonardo Capalbo, Zachary James, Greer Grimsley, Karen Slack, Breanna Sinclaire, Jennifer Rowley, Elizabeth Deshong, and Kenneth Overton, among many others.

Others simply urged voters to use their voices and vote. Among them was Metropolitan Opera Music Director Yannick Nezet-Seguin, who wrote, “To all my American friends: I really wish I could vote tomorrow. Your voice is important, it matters. Vote for yourself, for your children, for the voiceless. Vote for your country, vote for the world.”

Tenor Arturo Chacon Cruz took to Twitter to urge LatinX voters in Florida to vote stating, “LatinX family in Florida. Let’s make our voice heard. We will restore decency and humanity to the government through our vote. It’s now or never.”

Finally, Raehann Bryce-Davis sent out a brief message stating, “Vote Like your life depends on it… cause it does.”

Scroll through a list of other opera stars who took to social media to encourage their audiences to vote in the election below.
