Christian Thielemann Cancels Richard Strauss Days in Dresden

The Semperoper Dresden announced that Christian Thielemann has had to cancel “Richard Strauss Days” due to health issues.

The company said that for the revival of “Der Rosenkavalier” on March 25 and April 3, 2023, Cornelius Meister will conduct. Meanwhile, “Arabella” on March 30 and April 5 and 7, 2023 will be taken on by conductor David Afkham. Finally, the 9th symphony concert on April 15 and 16, 2023, also planned as part of the festive season, will be conducted by Tugan Sokhiev.

The “Richard Strauss Days” are scheduled between April 2 and 16 and feature selected opera performances, concerts, and other accompanying events to the wide-ranging oeuvre of the Richard Strauss.

The company recently announced its 2023-24 season, which will feature 10 new productions and 30 revivals.
