The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced the full slate for its 2020-21 free streaming season.

Here is the look.

Walter Braunfels’ “Die Vögel” will feature Wolfgang Koch, Günter Papendell, Caroline Wettergreen, Emily Pogorelc, Yajie Zhang, Eliza Boom, Bálint Szabó, Theodore Platt, George Vîrban, Charles Workman, and Michael Nagy. Ingo Metzmacher conducts the production by Frank Castorf. Stage sets by Aleksandar Denić.

Broadcast date: Nov. 8, 2020

Verdi’s “Falstaff” will spotlight Boris Pinkhasovich, Galeano Salas, Kevin Conners, Callum Thorpe, Ailyn Pérez, Dorottya Láng, Timothy Oliver, Mélissa Petit, Judit Kutasi, and Wolfgang Koch in the title role. Michele Mariotti conducts the production by Mateja Koležnik.

Carl Maria von Weber’s “Der Freischütz” will showcase Boris Prýgl, Christian Rieger, Golda Schultz, Anna Prohaska, Kyle Ketelsen, Pavel Černoch, Tareq Nazmi, Milan Siljanov, Eliza Boom, Sarah Gilford, Daria Proszek, and Yajie Zhang. Antonello Manacorda will conduct the production by Dmitri Tcherniakov.

Broadcast date: Feb. 13, 2021. The recording will be available as VOD from Feb. 15, 2021 – March 15, 2021.

Richard Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier” will star Marlis Petersen, Christof Fischesser, Samantha Hankey, Johannes Martin Kränzle, Katharina Konradi, Daniela Köhler, Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke, Ursula Hesse von den Steinen, Peter Lobert, Manuel Günther, Caspar Singh, Christian Rieger, Galeano Salas, Eliza Boom, and George Vîrban. Vladimir Jurowski will conduct the production by Barrie Kosky.

Broadcast date: March 21, 2021. The recording will be available as VOD from March 23, 2021 – April 23, 2021.

Aribert Reimann’s “Lear” will spotlight Christian Rieger, Ivan Ludlow, Michael Colvin, Brenden Gunnell, Georg Nigl, Andrew Watts, Matthias Klink, Angela Denoke, Ausrine Stundyte, Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, Graham Valentine,  James Ley, and Christian Gerhaher in the title role. Jukka-Pekka Saraste conducts the production by Christoph Marthaler.

Broadcast date: May 30, 2021. The recording will be available as VOD from June 1, 2021 – July 1, 2021.

The final production of the season to be broadcast will be Mozart’s “Idomeneo.” The opera will star Emily D’Angelo, Olga Kulchynska, Hanna-Elisabeth Müller, Martin Mitterrutzner, Caspar Singh, Callum Thorpe, and Matthew Polenzani in the title role. Constantinos Carydis conducts the production by Dustin Klein.

Broadcast date: July 24, 2021. The recording will be available as VOD from July 26, 2021 – August 26, 2021.
