By David SalazarChoral Arts Society of Washington is set to present “The Choral Legacy: 60 Years of Creating Stories Through Voice.”
The 90-minute concert will feature excerpts from Händel’s “Messiah,” Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms,” Verdi’s “Requiem,” Brahms’ “Requiem,” Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, and the world premiere of Saunder Choi’s “To Imagine Creation.” Choral Arts Artistic Director Marie Bucoy-Calavan will conduct the concert.
“In our final performance of the season, ‘The Choral Legacy’ embodies the essence of what Choral Arts has been, is today, and aspires to become over the next 60 years,” said Bucoy-Calavan, per an official press release. “This concert is a tapestry woven from some of the most significant and enduring works in the choral canon—each serving as a mirror to the human experience, capturing its beauty, complexity, and resilience through the power of voice.”
The showcase will take place on June 15, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Kennedy Center for the Arts.
