Chicago Fringe Opera Announces Spring 2021 Slate

Chicago Fringe Opera (CFO), known as Chicago’s “Alternative Opera Company,” has announced the Spring portion of its 2021 Season.

The company will to present “A City of Works: Pilot Season,” which includes several works for one or two singers inspired by one of Chicago’s 50 unique venue. Audiences will have a chance to head to each location and with a QR code on their smartphones, they can engage with a video of a new work specifically created for that location.

Chicago Fringe Opera has collaborated with such artists as Renée Baker, Seth Boustead, Darius Parker, Grace Coberly, Tomás Gueglio K.F. Jacques, Heidi Joosten, Michael Oldham, Matthew Recio, Libby Rudolph, and Laura Stratford on the different works in this unique series. Details on the performing artists will be unveiled at a later date.

Episodes will be released across three different weeks. The first set will be released on April 16, with the second on April 30, and the final works available on May 14, 2021.

The company also announced “Sounds of Pride 2021,” which will feature music composed and performed by members of the LGBTQ+ community. This performance will be presented digitally on June 26, 2021.
