Chautauqua Opera Extends Contract Of General & Artistic Director
By David SalazarSteven R. Osgood will stay on as general and artistic director of the Chautauqua Opera Company through the 2020 season.
The company has announced a two-year contract with Osgood, following his “standout first three seasons.” Osgood is coming off performances of “The Turn of the Screw” at the Juilliard Opera and will lead the company’s 90th anniversary season this coming summer.
Osgood is the eighth person appointed to the post of artistic and general director and since his appointment in 2016, he has created a number of initiatives, such as his “Opera Invasion,” that helped build the profile of the company. He has worked with the company since 2009 as a guest conductor.
“The past three years leading Chautauqua Opera have been incredibly rewarding and I am thrilled to now be planning through the 2020 season,” Osgood stated in a press release. “I look forward to continuing to engage with lifelong Chautauquans in the coming seasons, and to bringing new opera lovers into the vibrant Chautauqua community.”
Additionally, the company has announced that Sara Noble will now be Director of Marketing and Engagement, previously working as the company and media manager.
“Sara Noble has been central in the crafting of our company’s profile, and her promotion promises new and continued innovations,” added Osgood about Noble’s promotion.
