Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Announces New Executive Director

Chattanooga Symphony & Opera have announced that Susan W. Caminez will be its next Executive Director, taking over for John Kilkenny who will be taking on a new role with the New York Youth Symphony.

Caminez has been a part of Chattanooga Symphony & Opera since 2021, serving as Symphony Bookkeeper and as Director of Education and Community Impact.

“We are in the midst of an exciting, transformative time at the symphony,” Caminez said in an official press statement issued by the company. “I’m honored to help be a part of what’s to come as the new Executive Director. I love this organization – from our phenomenal musicians and chorus to our dedicated board, staff, and youth symphony members – the CSO is an integral piece of what makes Chattanooga great. I’m thrilled to usher in this next era.”

“I’ve known and worked with Susan for more than three years and have been consistently impressed with the creative way she addresses issues,” added Don McDowell, current Board Chair. “Her passion and commitment to the CSO is exemplary. Susan brings a wealth of experience to this role, and we are fortunate to have a leader of her caliber on our team. We will truly miss John and wish him and Susan all the best in their new positions.”
