Center for Contemporary Opera & Teatro Amilcare Ponchielli Cremona to Present World Premiere of ‘A Sweet Silence in Cremona’

The Center for Contemporary Opera is set to present the world premiere of “A Sweet Silence in Cremona” at the Teatro A. Ponchielli Cremona, starting on May 8, 2022.

The opera, which is composed by Roberto Scarcella Perino to a libretto by Mark Campbell, will conducted by Giuseppe Bruno and directed by Cecilia Ligorio.

Cast members include tenor Gianluca Moro as Yassine, bass Pietro Di Bianco as Ettore, soprano Sara Fanin as Valentina / Il Violino, Soprano Costanza Fontana as Giulia, mezzo soprano Antonella Di Giacinto as Mariolina, and baritone Ramiro Maturana as Attila/Liutaio.

The work tells the tale of seven people and a dog whose lives are intertwined dwelling in an area around an auditorium. It was commissioned by New York University Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo and NYU Florence.
