Maria Callas, Olga Peretyatko, Simone Kermes & Anja Harteros Headline New Releases

Mio Caro Handel
German soprano Simone Kermes’ new album is dedicated to Handel and features popular arias such as “Ombra mai fu,” “Piangerò la sorte mia,” “Lascia ch’io pianga,” and more. The soprano also included a personal letter to Handel, outlining how the composer’s life and her life are intertwined and how his music accompanies her in the different stages of her life. she is accompanied by the Amici Veneziani.
Mozart +
Soprano Olga Peretyatko releases her fifth solo album for Sony Classical, exploring Mozart’s concert and opera arias as well as discoveries of largely unknown arias from operas by Tommaso Traetta, Giovanni Paisiello, and Vicente Martín y Soler. The album includes arias from “Die Entführung aus dem Serail,” “Le nozze di Figaro,” “Don Giovanni,” and “La Clemenza di Tito,” “Il barbiere di Siviglia,” and “Il burbero di buon cuore.” The album marks the second collaboration with the Sinfonieorchester Basel and Ivor Bolton as the conductor.
Tosca
Anja Harteros takes on the title role of Puccini’s heroine in Michael Sturminger’s 2018 production from the Salzburg Easter Festival. Aleksandrs Antonenko stars as Cavaradossi and Ludovic Tezier also stars as Scarpia. Christian Thielemann conducts the production, which is being released by C Major, first in Europe and later in the U.S.
La Notte di Un Nevrastenico & I Due Timidi
From the Reate Festival, Nino Rota’s two operas are brought to life in Dynamic’s new DVD starring Giorgio Celenza, Sabrina Cortese, Daniele Adriani, and Antonio Sapio. Gabriele Bonolis directs the production, which is conducted by Cesare Scarton.

After becoming a box office hit and premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Los Angeles Film festival and New York Film Festival, Sony Pictures Classics is set to release Tom Volf’s documentary about la Divina.
