The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced a cast change for its Dec. 13, 2023 performance of “Turandot.”

The company said, “In today’s performance of ‘Turandot‘, the titular role will be played by Catherine Foster, substituting for Ekaterina Semenchuk, who is still indisposed.

This will mark the second performance for Foster in the production after jumping in during the Dec. 11, 2023 performance. Foster has performed the role of Turandot at the Royal Opera House and is expected to perform the title role this season at the Staatsoper Hamburg, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opera de Dijon, and at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Greece with the Greek National Orchestra.

Foster will join a cast that includes Adam Palka, Martin Muehle, and Maria Agresta. Diego García Rodríguez conducts the production by Nuria Espert.
