Cathedral of St. John the Divine to Present ‘Heaven’s Door’

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City is set to present “Heaven’s Door” on April 5, 2022.

The program will feature Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto in D minor; Alissa Firsova’s a cappella “Stabat Mater;” José Maurício Nuñes-Garcia’s “Requiem;” and the New York premiere of the later orchestration for strings and timpani of Francis Poulenc’s “Litanies to the Black Virgin.”

The soloists will include soprano Nola Richardson, mezzo-soprano Tracy Cowart, tenor Andrew Fuchs, and bass-baritone Joseph Beutel. Kent Tritle and choirmaster Bryan Zaros will conduct.

The showcase will kick off at 7:30 p.m. All attendees will need to show proof of vaccination for COVID-19 and will need to wear a mask for the duration of the performance.
