Opera do Castelo and Teatro São Luiz co-present the national premiere of Barber’s “Vanessa.”

Soprano Catarina Molder takes on the title role. Tenor Ermin Ašćerić sings Anatol. Soprano Beatriz Volante, mezzo-soprano Alexandra Calado, and baritones Luís Rodrigues and Tiago Amado Gomes make up the rest of the cast. They are joined by the Coro Operafest.

Hannah König is the costume designer and Sérgio Moreira is the lighting designer. Daniela Kerck serves as the stage director and set designer. Diogo Costa conducts the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra.

Earlier this year, Opera do Castelo presented works such as Verdi’s “La Traviata,” “Dido and Aeneas,” and “Magic Flute” at its 2025 Operafest.

This national premiere of “Vanessa” will take place from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 at São Luiz in Lisbon.
