By Francisco Salazar

The Opéra National de Bordeaux has announced a cast change for its production of “La Traviata,” which opens on Jan. 26 and runs through Feb. 3, 2026.

The company said that Lucas Meachem will sing the role of Germont stepping in for the originally announced Ernesto Petti.

Meachem will make his Bordeaux debut and as result, has postponed his New Orleans Recital, which was set to be performed on Feb. 3, 2026. That recital will now take place in May. The baritone has performed the role of Germont at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and is set to sing the role at the Metropolitan Opera later this season.

Meachem will join a cast that includes Julien Behr and Federica Guida. Tito Ceccherini conducts the production by Pierre Rambert.
