The Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin has announced a cast change for “La Traviata.

The company said that Lisette Oropesa will sing the role of Violetta Valéry on Oct. 17, 2025, replacing the originally announced Aida Garifullina. This will mark Oropesa’s debut with the company. The soprano is also set to perform a production of “Romeo et Juliette.”

Oropesa is well known for her “La Traviata,” having performed it at the Metropolitan Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra National de Paris, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Arena di Verona, Bayerische Staatsoper, Royal Opera House, Gran Teatre del Liceu, and Teatro Real, among many others.

She is set to join a cast that includes Stefan Pop and Alexey Markov. Karel Mark Chichon conducts the production by Dieter Dorn.
