By Francisco Salazar

Sondra Radvanvosky has withdrawn from her Jan 28, 2024 performance of Verdi’s “Aida.”

In a statement via social media, the soprano said, “Well, some bad news to share with you all….I have to cancel my first performance of AIDA at Deutsche Oper Berlin on Sunday. Sadly, I have Covid again and need to rest and recoup before getting on a plane to Berlin. I truly am heartbroken and apologize to everyone who purchased a ticket to hear this AIDA. Please be safe out there, everyone. This round of Covid has NOT been fun!”

As a result, Christina Nilsson will replace Radvanovsky. Nilsson recently performed the role at the Royal Opera House and made her debut in the title role at teh Royal Swedish Opera.

She is set to join a cast that includes Andrew Harris, Yulia Matochkina, Jorge Puerta, Byung Gil Kim, and Jordan Shanahan.

Radvanovsky returns to the production on Feb. 4, 2024.
