Deutsche Oper Berlin Announces Cast Change for ‘Aida’ Concert

Russian soprano Elena Stikhina has canceled the concert “The Best of Aida” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin,.

As a result, Swedish soprano Christina Nilsson will perform in her stead.

Nilsson recently took home the third prize at the Operalia competition and first prize at the Renata Tebaldi Vocal Competition. She has performed the role of Elsa von Brabant in Wagner’s “Lohengrin” at the Theater Dortmund and the title role in Richard Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” at Opéra de Lausanne in 2019, among others. She has also performed at the Opéra de Lyon, Royal Swedish Opera, Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy, and Oper Frankfurt.

Nilsson will join a cast that includes Judit Kutasi, Jorge de León, Patrick Guetti, Tyler Zimmerman, Byung Gil Kim, and Markus Brück.

Giampaolo Bisanti will conduct the concerts on Sept. 19 and 20.
