Carolyn Sloan, an award-winning author and music educator has released her new children’s book “WELCOME TO THE OPERA: Discover the Enchanting World of Opera with Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute‘”

The latest in her “Welcome To…” series, the book teaches young readers the foundations of opera.

Sloan’s books are consistently featured at the Met store and she is set to do an event on Dec. 10 at the Met bookstore.

The book uses interactive sound technology and vibrant, full-color illustrations, with 12 sound buttons on the side panel of the book to engage readers and let them hear fully orchestrated examples of the key musical concepts being introduced.

Among the concepts introduced are Overture, Voice types, Recitative, and Arias.

“Welcome to the Opera” is the third title in Sloan’s successful Welcome to… sound chip picture book series that introduces classic musical genres to young readers. Her previous books include “Welcome to the Symphony” and “Welcome to Jazz.”
