Carmela Remigio & Luca Salsi Highlight Fondazione I Teatri Reggio Emilia’s 2019-20 Season

The Fondazione I Teatri Reggio Emilia has announced its 2019-20 season.

Francesca Dotto takes on the title role in Donizetti’s “Lucrezia Borgia” in a production by Andrea Bernard from the Donizetti Opera Festival. The cast will also include Marko Mimica, Francesco Castoro, and Varduhi Abrahamyan. Carla Delfrate conducts the production.

Performance Dates: Dec. 6 & 8, 2019

The second production of the season will be the double bill of Mascagni’s “Cavalleria Rusticana” and Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci.” Sonia Ganassi, Alessia Nadin, Angelo Villari, Dalibor Jenis, and Claudia Marchi star in the Mascagni work while Carmela Remigio, Stefano La Colla, Dalibor, Jenis, Paolo Antognetti, and Vincenzo Nizzardo star in the Leoncavallo work in a new production by Serena Sinigaglia. Frédéric Chaslin conducts.

Performance Dates: Feb 7 & 9, 2020

Luca Salsi, Vladimir Stoyanov, Marco Ciaponi, Luca Casalin, Marcello Nardis, Graziano Dallavalle, Serena Gamberoni, Giuliana Gianfaldoni, Rossana Rinaldi, and Florentina Soare star in a new production of Verdi’s “Falstaff” with Jordi Bernacer conducting. Leonardo Lidi directs the production.

Performance Dates: March 27 & 29, 2020

Christopher Franklin conducts Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht’s “The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny” in a new production by Henning Brockhaus. The opera stars Christopher Lemmings, Marianne Cornetti, Chris Merritt, Luiz Ottavio Faria, Anne-Maire Kremer, Brendel Gunnell, Eric Greene, and Martin Hässler.

Performance Dates: May 24 & 26, 2020

Concerts 

Vivica Genaux sings a Vivaldi program with Il Pomo d’oro and Federico Guglielmo conducting.

Performance Date: Jan. 22, 2020

Frieder Bernius conducts the Kammerchor Stuttgart and the Hofkapelle Stuttgart in an all Mozart program. Soloists include Sarah Wegener, Marie Henriette Reinhold, Florian Sievers, and Sebastian Noack.

Performance Date: April 1, 2020
