Carmela Remigio Leads LAC’s ‘Anna Bolena’

The Lugano Arte e Cultura is set to open its 2023-24 season with a new production of Donzietti’s “Anna Bolena.”

The production, which will open on Sept. 4 and will be performed a total of four times, will be headlined by the great Italian soprano Carmela Remigio. The production will also star Marco Bussi (Enrico VIII), Arianna Vendittelli (Giovanna Seymour), Ruzil Gatin (Lord Riccardo Percy), and Paola Gardina (Smeton).

The rest of the cast will be announced at a later date. Maestro Diego Fasolis will conduct I Barocchisti and the Coro della Radiotelevisione svizzera e con la regia di Carmelo Rifici.

The production comes after the company recently presented “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” and “La Traviata.”

Remigio is well known for her Donizetti roles as she has performed such works as “Anna Bolena,” “Lucrezia Borgia,” “Maria Stuarda,” “Roberto Devereux,” “Il Castello di Kenilworth,” and “Belisario.”
