Carlos Álvarez, Juan Diego Flórez, Roberto Alagna, Aleksandra Kurzak & Pretty Yende Headline Wiener Staatsoper Streaming Slate

The Wiener Staatsoper has announced the next slate of operas that will be presented on its streaming platform over the next week. The entire streaming slate will be dedicated to operas by Giuseppe Verdi. All broadcasts begin at 7 p.m. CET.

First up is a production of “Rigoletto” with Carlos Álvarez, Juan Diego Flórez, Olga Peretyatko, Ain Anger, and Nadia Krasteva. Evelino Pidò conducts the production by Pierre Audi. The opera was filmed on Jan. 28, 2016.

Streaming date: March 16, 2021

Next up is “Otello.” The production from March 18, 2018 stars Roberto Alagna, Aleksandra Kurzak, Dalibor Jenis, and Antonio Poli. Graeme Jenkins conducts the production by Christine Mielitz.

Streaming date: March 18, 2021

The company will then stream the recent production of “La Traviata,” which had its premiere on March 7, 2021. The opera showcases Pretty Yende, Juan Diego Flórez, Igor Golovatenko, and Margaret Plummer. Giacomo Sagripanti conducts the production by Simon Stone.

Streaming date: March 20, 2021

Next in the line is “Falstaff.” The opera spotlights Ambrogio Maestri, Ludovic Tézier, Paolo Fanale, and Hila Fahima. Zubin Mehta conducts the production by David McVicar. The opera was filmed on Dec. 12, 2016.

Streaming date: March 21, 2021

The streaming week ends with the production of “Aida” with Elena Guseva, Gregory Kunde, Ekaterina Gubanova, and Simone Piazzola. Marco Armiliato conducts the production by Nicolas Joel. The opera was filmed on June 29, 2019.
