
Cape Town Opera Announces ‘Opera Blocks: Under the Sea’ for Babies & Toddlers
By David SalazarCape Town Opera will present “Opera Blocks: Under the Sea,” an immersive theatrical experience for babies and toddlers aged 0–5, at libraries across Cape Town from March 26–31, 2026.
Written, choreographed, and directed by Elizma Badenhorst, the 45-minute production is performed by members of CTO’s Judith Neilson Young Artist Programme and Vocal Ensemble, accompanied by Nathan Lewis on keyboard. The production blends live singing with storytelling, movement, and tactile design in a relaxed, child-friendly setting.
Performances take place at the Gugulethu Library on March 26, the Bellville Library on March 27, the Retreat Library on March 28, the Milnerton Library on March 30, and the Sea Point Library on March 31, all beginning at 1:00 PM.
There will be additional performances at the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (KKNK) from April 1–3, 2026.
