By David Salazar

The Center for the Art of Performance UCLA is set to present David T. Little’s “Black Lodge” as part of its 2024-25 season.

The showcase, presented in partnership with Beth Morrison Projects, is set for Oct. 19, 2024 at 8 p.m. at The United Theater on Broadway.

The opera, which features a libretto by Anne Waldman and film direction / stagee direction by Michael VQ stars Timur.

The recording for the industrial opera in three parts earned the composer a Grammy Nomination following its October 2022 world premiere at Opera Philadelphia.

“At the end of the day ‘Black Lodge’ is really about pursuing beauty as a kind of peace, in spite of the ugliness we often find in the world,” Little told OperaWire in an interview earlier this year. “And indeed it has a lot of beauty in it… And I hope that these moments of beauty can help transcend some of the darkness, both in the context of the piece, but also as listeners move beyond it and back into their lives.”
