This summer, the Canadian Opera Company will once again present “Musical Flights,” the company’s casual community concert series.

Artists of the COC Ensemble Studio will perform a program of operatic showstoppers that preview the COC’s upcoming productions of “Nabucco,” “Faust,” “Madama Butterfly,” and “Eugene Onegin.” A variety of Broadway hits including selections from “Oklahoma!,” “My Fair Lady,” “West Side Story,” and “The Sound of Music” will be performed. Featured soloists include sopranos Midori Marsh and Charlotte Siegel, tenor Matthew Cairns, and baritone Korin Thomas-Smith.

Concerts will take place on Sept. 7 at Drill Hall at Base31, Sept. 13 at the George Weston Recital Hall at Meridian Arts Centre, and the final two performances on Sept. 14 an 15 are hosted by the Harbourfront Centre.

Following the “Musical Flights” series is the free concert series in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre. “Meet the Ensemble Studio” features each artist singing one of their favorite arias. This concert takes place on Sept. 25, from 12 – 1 p.m.
