Cameron Shahbazi & Mahdieh Mohammadkhani to Perform at UCLA

Farhang Foundation’s Iranian New Year Celebration in Los Angeles will star countertenor Cameron Shahbazi and  Mahdieh Mohammadkhani.

This concert will feature traditional Iranian classical music with modern, global influences. This concert marks Shahbazi’s Southern California stage debut and Mohammadkhani’s first US appearance in over a decade. Together they are joined by Iranshahr Orchestra, an ensemble dedicated to promoting and preserving Iranian music by creating a bridge between ancient music and a classical Western orchestra. Dr. Shahab Paranj conducts.

Both soloists are advocates for women’s rights and human rights in Iran. In 2023, Shahbazi was awarded the Opus Klassik Award in the “Innovative Concert of the Year’”category for his work “Woman.Life.Freedom.,” which was presented in a benefit concert at Oper Frankfurt.

This performance will take place on March 9, at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
